Amazon Fire Alexa capabilities to be included in new firmware

In the battle for ultimate control of the living room, anything goes, and Amazon seems to be focused on enabling us to control our living room computer with a 100% Alexa voice control commands. A far away goal yet, but one which is meeting some progress as Amazon Fire Alexa capabilities are enhanced. In the newest update by Amazon to the firmware on their devices, they are adding the ability to launch apps and videos using this voice input. It is still interesting to see if Kodi will be favored this time, as when Amazon proved us wrong when we thought they had blocked Kodi. [Read:ย Did Amazon block Kodi? This update suggests otherwise]

Amazon Fire Alexa capabilities - the only change in this update?

Still, some things might not be that good. For those who are using FireStopper, this new firmware update might be the one that ultimately kills it, just as it happened when Amazon blacklisted Firestarter some weeks ago. If you want to avoid this, you couldย block Fire TV from updating, until more details are known about the newest firmware.
