Guide: How to install NFO WatchedState Updater Kodi addon

The NFO WatchedState Updater Kodi addon is the last addon we will be covering in our series for the 7 best Kodi addons to backup watched status. This addon is somewhat different to the ones we have seen previously, since the backup is not kept in a local database, like with the Kodi WatchedList Addon, or in an online service, like it would be if you used Kodi Trakt addon. Instead, the watched state is updated on .nfo files that accompany your library media items on your storage device. Then, if you experience trouble with your watched status marks, you can rely on this addon, and the information on your .nfo files to update those marks. Use The Nfo Watchedstate Plugin To Update Your Watched Status Marks To .Nfo Files On Your File System.

Why would you want to use .nfo files instead of a local database or online service? There are lots of reasons, but perhaps the most compelling one is that, by controlling individual files, you can control the watched state of each of your movies and TV shows individually. The addons we have seen up to this point perform this operation in full batches, in an all-or-nothing fashion, and synchronize all of your watched status marks. With NFO Watchedstate Updater addon, and an .nfo file on the same location as your media file, you can actually synchronize individual media items. The same operation may be performed using a local database and editing it, but moving files is much easier. [Read: Kodi MySQL setup for sharing media library]
